How freight from Poland to Azerbaijan is organised
Poland has become one of Europe’s major manufacturing and warehousing hubs: many European brands ship from Polish distribution centres. For Azerbaijani companies this is convenient — goods from different manufacturers can be sourced in one country.
We arrange collection from the supplier, or the supplier brings the goods to an agreed point. Small volumes travel as consolidated cargo charged per kilogram; full truckload (FTL), containers (FCL, LCL) and dedicated shipments are available on request.
The cargo is received, measured, documents checked and the final price confirmed. Customs clearance is handled by you or your broker, or by us as a separate brokerage service — terms are agreed in the offer.
What companies import from Poland
Polish products are chosen for their balance of quality and price. The groups most often shipped to Azerbaijan:
- Furniture — upholstered, office and flat-pack cabinet furniture
- Household goods — tableware, home textiles, household chemicals, small appliances
- Food products — confectionery, dairy, canned goods, frozen products
- Building materials — dry mixes, insulation, windows and doors, sanitaryware
- Cosmetics and hygiene products
- Auto parts and accessories
Routes from Poland to Baku
The route from Poland to Azerbaijan is chosen according to the volume and type of cargo. Transit time depends on the route and is stated in the offer.
- Road — from Poland through Romania and Bulgaria, then via Turkey and Georgia. The most common option for furniture and pallets; large lots move as a full truckload (FTL).
- Ferry combination — from the Romanian port of Constanța across the Black Sea to the Georgian ports of Poti or Batumi, then on to Baku.
- Sea container — from Gdańsk or Gdynia; for heavy building materials and large volumes.
- Air — from Warsaw airport; for urgent, light and high-value cargo.
Customs and documents for Polish goods
Poland is an EU member, so the export declaration is lodged on the Polish side under EU rules — usually by the supplier or its forwarder. In Azerbaijan the cargo is cleared under the general rules: duty by HS code, import VAT at 18% of the customs value plus duty, and customs fees.
A typical document set:
- Commercial invoice (faktura) and packing list
- CMR — the key document for road freight; AWB or bill of lading for air and sea
- Certificate of origin — issued in Poland by the chambers of commerce
- For food, a veterinary (dairy, meat) or phytosanitary certificate
- For building materials and electrical appliances, a certificate of conformity where required
- For household chemicals, a safety data sheet (SDS)
Tips for importers sourcing in Poland
The issues that come up most when importing from Poland relate to volume, packaging and coordinating several suppliers:
- If you buy from several suppliers, get a ready date from each. To consolidate, the pickups need to fall in the same window.
- Buy cabinet furniture flat-packed — volumetric weight drops noticeably, and so does the risk of damage.
- Ask for building materials on stretch-wrapped pallets; dry mixes must be protected from moisture.
- For food, clarify shelf life, temperature requirements and certificates at the request stage.
- Polish invoices often describe goods in Polish only — ask the supplier to add an English or Russian description and the HS code.
- Household chemicals (aerosols, liquids) and battery-powered appliances ship under special conditions — list them separately in your request.
How to request cargo from Poland
In your request, give the type of goods, total weight, volume or number of pallets, the suppliers’ cities (for example, Warsaw, Poznań, Łódź or Wrocław) and the invoice value. If the cargo comes from several suppliers, list each one separately.
The operator selects the route and sends an offer. The price is based on the greater of actual and volumetric weight and is confirmed after the cargo is received and measured. Handover is at our warehouse in Baku.
