Cargo from France to Azerbaijan: shipping to Baku

We ship cosmetics, fragrances, food products and industrial goods from French suppliers to Baku. We assess cargo with special requirements up front, choose the route and can take on customs brokerage when needed.

Cargo from France to Azerbaijan: how we work

A large share of cargo from France needs special attention: perfumes, aerosols, liquid cosmetics, food. That is why we start by clarifying what the shipment contains, then propose a route and terms.

The cargo can be collected from the supplier’s address, or the supplier delivers to an agreed point. Small lots travel as consolidated cargo; for larger volumes, FCL, LCL, FTL or a dedicated shipment is available on request.

The cargo is received, measured, its documents checked and the final price confirmed. Then comes transport and handover at our warehouse in Baku.

Customs clearance can be done by you or your broker. For goods with special requirements it is often easier to hand it to us as a separate brokerage service — terms are agreed in the offer.

What is imported from France to Azerbaijan

France is best known for its beauty industry and gastronomy, but industrial goods are imported too. The first four groups below are subject to additional conditions in transport and at customs.

  • Cosmetics, skincare and pharmacy cosmetics
  • Fragrances — finished products, testers and samples
  • Wine, cognac and other beverages
  • Food products — cheese, confectionery, coffee, delicatessen
  • Industrial goods — automotive components, electrical equipment, precision instruments
  • Agricultural equipment and spare parts
  • Fashion, accessories and home textiles

Routes and transport modes from France to Baku

We choose the transport mode based on the type of goods, urgency and budget. Flammable goods such as perfume are subject to specific rules for each mode, which directly affects the choice. The timeline is stated in the offer.

  • Air — from Paris Charles de Gaulle. Fast for cosmetics and small high-value lots, but restrictions on flammable liquids are strictest here.
  • Road — from France through Central Europe and the Balkans, Turkey and Georgia. A flexible option for palletised cargo, food and beverages.
  • Sea — containers from Marseille-Fos or Le Havre to the Black Sea ports of Poti or Batumi, then on to Baku. For large and heavy lots.

Documents and customs requirements for French goods

The basis of import charges in Azerbaijan is the same: duty by HS code, import VAT at 18% of the customs value plus duty, and customs fees. But many goods from France need additional documents.

Alcoholic beverages are excise goods and their import is subject to additional requirements; food products go through food safety control. For such cargo we clarify the conditions at the request stage.

Typically required:

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • CMR, AWB or bill of lading
  • Certificate of origin — issued in France by the chambers of commerce and industry (CCI)
  • For cosmetics and fragrances, ingredient information and a safety data sheet (SDS); for flammable liquids, dangerous goods documentation
  • For food, a veterinary or phytosanitary certificate; for beverages, quality and conformity documents

Practical tips for importing cosmetics, fragrance and food

Most cargo from France is not «ordinary» cargo. These rules help avoid surprises:

  • Perfumes are alcohol-based and may be classed as flammable liquids in transport. Ask your supplier for the safety data sheet (SDS) in advance.
  • List aerosols (deodorants, sprays, hairspray) separately — they ship under different conditions from regular cosmetics.
  • Watch shelf life on food: transport and clearance take time, and a product with a short shelf life may arrive unfit for sale.
  • If a product needs temperature control (cheese, for example), state this in the request — terms are set individually.
  • Show each product’s name, size (ml, g) and quantity separately on the invoice. Generic lines like «cosmetics set» raise questions at customs.
  • For consumer goods intended for resale, check the labelling requirements in advance.

Before you send a request for cargo from France

For an accurate offer, include: a product list (perfumes, aerosols and liquids listed separately), total weight and volume, number of packages, the supplier’s city and the invoice value.

If you need customs brokerage, say so as well. The price is based on chargeable weight and confirmed after the cargo is received and measured; handover is at our warehouse in Baku.
